International Creative Workshop
Creative workshop held at the International Creative
Centre in Sapporo, Japan.
Brief
Airside was invited by the International Creative Centre in Sapporo to fly out to Japan to run a ten day workshop for students and creative industry professionals.
The workshop was to be run in tandem with another led by Rinzen, also a leading creative studio.
The brief from the ICC was completely open with the only recommendation being that we structure the course into a series of two to three day 'projects' to inspire the Japanese participants - the nature and content of the projects was up to us.
Outcome
Free from the constraints of our day jobs, we surprised ourselves and each other with the results of the workshop. The participants invested a great deal of energy and emotion in all of the projects, and we experienced everything from laughter to tears.
Essentially, we began as a group of strangers and we left ten days later as friends having shared a unique and inspiring creative experience.
The Workshop
Following a series of creative meetings, we decided upon a shortlist of projects, based loosely on the idea that 'surprise' or 'revelation' is what sits at the heart of memorable creative work.
We proposed the following:
- Snow sculpture
- Photography treasure hunt
- Balloon Sculpture
- Stop motion video production
These projects were interspersed with a ten day evolving paint project called RMX Big Bang being run by Rinzen.
