Brief

Airside won the pitch to create an interactive kiosk, an exhibition space and a visual identity for Wolverhampton Art Gallery's two year exhibition of pop art.

My role was to develop a Flash-based kiosk with interactive content and information for the gallery visitors.

As the exhibtion content would be changing on a six monthly basis, the gallery wanted the ability to update the interactive content themselves, so a dynamic and flexible system was needed.

What I did

I created a flexible and robust system using ActionScript that is driven by a series of XML files to allow the gallery staff to easily update the content.

The most notable part of the kiosk I developed was a piece called 'Famous for 15 minutes'. Alluding to the work of Andy Warhol, this interactive uses the advanced capabilities of Flash to allow visitors to take a photo of themselves, get creative by 'painting' over it and then email it to a friend.

The finished creations are also optionally sent to a Flickr stream where they are visible for the whole world to see.
